CS2: Create a Game Server Login Token (GSLT)

A Game Server Login Token is currently not required, however, submitting a GSLT to your server will make it appear in the server browser for other players to find. It is recommended to add a GSLT regardless since it is likely that Valve will soon enforce this requirement strictly - as they did for CS:GO.

How to create a GSL Token

1
Log in to Steam account and visit the Game Server Management page.
2
Scroll to the bottom of the page until you see the heading Create new server account.
3
Fill out the APP ID which is 730 for CS2, and PM to keep track of your token by description (optional). Then click "Create". Example below:
Note that a token can only be used on one server at a time. If you have multiple servers, you must create multiple tokens.
4
Once created, you will see a Game Server Key created. This is the token you will put in your server configuration. See image below:
5
Go to your Control Panel at DatHost and click Edit on your CS2 Server.
6
Navigate to the Settings page found in the left menu.
7
Under the headline Steam Game Server Login Token, enter your token.
8
Finally, Save and Reboot the server and your token will be applied.

Banned Game Server Login Token

For CS:GO, some plugins were against Valve's guidelines, such as !ws, !knife and fake rank plugins. While we don't have information regarding this for CS2, it is likely that plugins which are against Valve's guidelines will also result in a ban.

A ban implies that:

  • You no longer can create GSL Tokens with your Steam account, and the related phone number will also be banned, so you won't be able to create a new account using the same number.
  • Your Steam Account will be banned from playing CS2 for a limited amount of time. Most users report a 11-day long ban,

Token Expiration and Limitations

A token can not be used left to right, there are some good factors to keep in mind regarding your tokens.

  • If a token is unused for 5 weeks (server turned-off), it will expire and can no longer be used. You will simply have to generate a new token to have your server functioning properly again.
  • You can only use one token per server. If you have the intention of hosting multiple servers, create multiple tokens - one for each server.
