Minecraft: Simple Voice Chat
This guide explains how to install Simple Voice Chat on your DatHost Minecraft server using either a CurseForge URL or manual upload. Both methods achieve the same result—choose the one you prefer.

Install via CurseForge URL

Copy the mod/plugin URL from CurseForge:
Mod Link: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/simple-voice-chat
Plugin link: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/bukkit-plugins/simple-voice-chat
- In your Minecraft server panel, go to Mods & Server Type.
- Paste the URL into the Copy CurseForge mod/plugin URL here field and click Install.
- Restart your server to apply the changes.
- Your voice chat should now be ready to use.

Manual Upload
- Download the
.jarfile from the Simple Voice Chat page. - Go to Mods & Server Type in your DatHost panel.
- Upload the file using the Custom Upload field.
- Restart your server to apply the changes.
- Your voice chat should now be ready to use.

Optional alternative:
You can also upload the .jar file directly using the File Manager:
- Place it in the
/modsfolder (for modded servers like Forge/Fabric) - Or
/pluginsfolder (for plugin-based servers like Paper/Spigot)

Troubleshooting tips
To find your voice chat port:
- Hover over your server IP in the DatHost panel
- Look for the port labeled Voice
This port is automatically assigned and configured for your server.

If voice chat is not working:
- Open the file
voicechat-server.properties - Ensure the following:
portmatches your server’s Voice portbind_addressis empty
Incorrect values here are the most common cause of connection issues.

- Make sure all players also install Simple Voice Chat on their client.
- Verify your server type supports the mod (Forge, Fabric, Paper with plugin version, etc.).
- After updates, always restart your server to ensure proper loading.
Your server should now support in-game proximity voice chat!
