Minecraft: Simple Voice Chat

This guide explains how to install Simple Voice Chat on your DatHost Minecraft server using either a CurseForge URL or manual upload. Both methods achieve the same result—choose the one you prefer.

  1. Copy the mod/plugin URL from CurseForge:

    Mod Link: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/simple-voice-chat

    Plugin link: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/bukkit-plugins/simple-voice-chat

  2. In your Minecraft server panel, go to Mods & Server Type.
  3. Paste the URL into the Copy CurseForge mod/plugin URL here field and click Install.
  4. Restart your server to apply the changes.
  5. Your voice chat should now be ready to use.

Manual Upload

  1. Download the .jar   file from the Simple Voice Chat page.
  2. Go to Mods & Server Type in your DatHost panel.
  3. Upload the file using the Custom Upload field.
  4. Restart your server to apply the changes.
  5. Your voice chat should now be ready to use.

Optional alternative:

You can also upload the .jar   file directly using the File Manager:

  • Place it in the /mods   folder (for modded servers like Forge/Fabric)
  • Or /plugins   folder (for plugin-based servers like Paper/Spigot)

Troubleshooting tips

To find your voice chat port:

  • Hover over your server IP in the DatHost panel
  • Look for the port labeled Voice

This port is automatically assigned and configured for your server.

If voice chat is not working:

  • Open the file voicechat-server.properties
  • Ensure the following:
    • port   matches your server’s Voice port
    • bind_address   is empty

Incorrect values here are the most common cause of connection issues.

  • Make sure all players also install Simple Voice Chat on their client.
  • Verify your server type supports the mod (Forge, Fabric, Paper with plugin version, etc.).
  • After updates, always restart your server to ensure proper loading.

Your server should now support in-game proximity voice chat!
