Looking for an easy and reliable server? Try our Project Zomboid Server Hosting

Step 1: Stop Your Server:

Before you do anything, go to your Dathost control panel and stop your server.

Step 2: Open Config Files

  1. In the control panel, go to Settings → Mods.

Step 3: Add Your Mods

  1. Find the line that says Workshop Items

    • Here, put the Workshop IDs of the mods you want.
    • If you have more than one, separate them with a ;
WorkshopItems=2787291431;2844118309
    • Next, find the line that says Mods:

    • Here, put the Mod IDs (the short names).
    • Separate multiple mods with ;
Mods=tsarslib;FilibusterRhymesUsedCars
  1. Save the file.

Step 4: Add Map Mods (Optional)

If your mod changes the map (like a new city or building):

  1. In the Settings tab, look for Map:

  1. On the Steam Workshop page of your map mod, find Map Folder (usually at the bottom).
  2. Put that name after Map=
Map=OverfieldBunker
  1. Save the file.

If you add a map mod, you need to put it in two places:

    • In the WorkshopItems= line (using its Workshop ID number)
    • In the Mods= line (using its Mod ID name)

Both are required, or the map won’t work on your server.

Step 5: Start Your Server

  1. Go back to the control panel and start the server.
  2. Your mods should now be active.

Step 6: Install Mods on Your Own Game

Your game and the server need to have the same mods, or you won’t be able to join.

  1. Go to the Steam Workshop and subscribe to the mods you use on the server.
  2. Open this folder on your PC:
C:\Users\<YourName>\Zomboid\mods
  1. Open this folder too:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600
  1. Find the folder with your mod’s Workshop ID.

  2. Copy the folder inside that is named after the Mod ID into your Zomboid\mods folder.
  3. Launch Project Zomboid → click Mods → select your mod → click Enable.

Now your game matches the server, and you can join! Your Dathost server is now ready with mods, and your game is set up to play with them.
